Getting Easy by Having Private Registration of DVLA Personalized Registration

Friday, February 5th, 2010

2010 has got off to a great start for the DVLA (the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency) with the sale of the private number plate of ‘1 OOO’ which went for more than £80,000 last month. The reserve price was only £8000 so the winning bidder had to fork out over 10 times as much to secure the private number plate during an enthralling bidding content in Cambridge, UK. The number plate is the first of the “triple OOO” series to be released by the DVLA over the coming months, with the series expected to generate a lot of interest amongst private registration plate fanatics. The second most expensive number plate sold by the DVLA at the event was “1 LFD” which fetched an amazing £20,000. DVLA’s Marketing Manager, Damian Lawson was thrilled with how the auction went, saying that “The year could not have got off to a finer start, we were hoping for big things from 1 OOO and the registration delivered. Roll on the rest of the year which will see other triple O plates coming into the fray.”

The next DVLA number plate auction will be held at the Old Trafford ground in Manchester on the 24th March 2010. Among the 1,500 private registration plates on offer will be “2 OOO”, together with “9 O” and some special Manchester United-related plates (handy as Old Trafford is the home of the football team). Number plates are completely unique to each vehicle and it’s a legal requirement that they are displayed clearly and in a prominent position on the car, lorry or motorbike.
